The EPSA venue is closed over the Christmas holiday period – so the Bunker will unfortunately not have a meeting on Wednesday 26th December.  The first meeting of 2013 will be on Wednesday 2nd January.

In the meantime, everyone at the Chelmsford Bunker wishes you a very merry Christmas and a happy New year.

Final Sunday meeting of 2012

We have booked our last Sunday meeting of 2012 on 21st December – we have the venue from 12:00 to 20:00.

As this is likely to be our last Sunday meeting at the venue for the foreseeable future, why not come down and join in with the Warmachine / Hordes doubles tournament or the multi-player Firestorm Armada game? There should still be plenty of space in the hall if you just want a pre-Christmas session of your favourite wargame.

Extra Monday Meetings

We have booked four additional Monday meetings on the following dates :

3rd and 24th September

5th and 19th November

These dates are in addition to our regular weekly Wednesday meetings.

Trial – Two Meetings A Week

Just a quick update on something that we’re trialling for a few weeks, following suggestion at last years AGM, and because now seems the best time to do it.

For a handful of dates (to start), the Chelmsford Bunker will have two meetings a week. The idea is to reflect the fact that our club is growing and can thus afford more meetings, to allow gamers to play more games by giving them the potential to attend more often, and to potentially spread out our weekly games across two meetings (this may not work if we are as popular as we are on Wed on the additional dates..) as to make more space for games.

The reason for doing this now is simple however – with the CBBBLV season coming up, most of our gamers are going to find themselves with their hands full playing Blood Bowl. Therefore one big part of this to make the additional meetings available so that those same players are still able to attend and play Warmachine, Dystopian Wars, Firestorm Armada, Uncharted Seas, Flames of War, 40K, Fantasy or whatever else floats their boat on a weekly basis. The Warmachine players out there should also watch this space for Dragonfather’s updates, as I know he has some big plans for Warmachine in the second half of the year.

So that said, the dates that we have booked are the Mon 30th July, and Mon 6th August so far. If the format works, and enough of you both attend and like the idea enough, then we can see about making this more permanent..

Sunday 29th July – one-day Blood Bowl tournament

We’ve booked Sunday 29th July so we can hold a one-day, members only, Blood Bowl tournament!

The rules will follow that of the Bunker Bowl III except that we’ll only be playing three games over the course of the day.  There are no prizes apart from bragging rights over who’s the best Blood Bowl coach in the club!

Doors open from 10:00 to 18:00 and we’ve got a staffed bar from 13:00 to 17:00.  Regular Sunday £3 subs will be charged.

Please see the club forum if you want to sign up.

Sunday booking – 13th May

The club has booked Sunday 13th May as a general club meeting running from 10:00 to 18:00, will have the bar open from 13:00 to 17:00 and will cost £3 subs.

New Game Night – 28th March 2012

On Wednesday 28th March, we’re going to be trying something new at the Bunker and we hope it will encourage you to do the same.

We’re calling this “New Game Night” as we want to allow club members to be introduced to new and alternative games to the systems they already play.  It’s a free night so it won’t cost you anything and a number of volunteers have offer to put on demo games so you can try out a different game without buying the models first.

Confirmed games so far are :

Infinity
World of Warcraft CCG
Kings of War / Warpath
Future War Commander
Malifaux
Hordes Battlebox Demo – Circle vs Legion
SAGA (Viking age skirmish game)
Dust Tactics
Dystopian Wars
Lord of the Rings (TBC)

We’re hoping to add more demo games as we get closer to the date.

This is an opportunity to try something new or see a game you might not be aware of.  No regular games can be played due to space constraints but we hope you’ll enjoy the evening nevertheless!
